Our Values

  • Users are customers, not product - Our product is our platform, the success of which is measured by the number of happy users. Engagement only has value when it increases the satisfaction of our users. We therefore place the highest of priorities on our users having an enjoyable experience.
  • Advertising Sucks - Being bombarded with audio & video ads is counter to creating an enjoyable site. It also distracts us from our mission focusing on user satisfaction by introducing advertiser satisfaction. Any advertising on our site should be discreet, limited, and not have access to any user personal data.
  • Kindness Rocks - There are a lot of sites that cater to a bunch of keyboard warriors hurling insults at one another. We don’t think that’s compatible with an enjoyable experience for anyone. We will ensure that the impact of chuckleheads is minimized as much as possible.
  • Everyone is Welcome - Inclusivity is critical, every adult in our community should feel welcome, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disability.
  • Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication - This quote (often attributed to Leonardo da Vinci) captures our design ethos. Software developers love building cool features, but that desire must be carefully balanced so that it does not detract from building something that’s fast, easy to use, and a joyful experience.
  • Politics/Religion-free zone - There’s just no way to discuss politics or religion in a civil way on a public forum. This site will be a better experience for everyone when there’s no discussion of contentious subjects.
  • Community Moderated - The user community deems what is acceptable on the site. If enough users flag a particular post or comment as being objectionable, it will be removed.
